As soon as folks could strap skis on their feet as early as 1911, on through the first competitive races down the locally popular Mansfield Toll Road in 1914, Stowe Vermont has been a very popular ski destination resort known for challenging terrain, fantastic customer service and most importantly excellent snow.


Stowe isn't known just for its downhill skiing. There are several nordic/cross country ski areas very close to the Mountain Resort.  The Trapp Family Nordic Center, Mt Mansfield Nordic Center along with Edson Hill Manor provides for fun, challenging cross country excitement for all abilities. The largest resorts in Stowe are the Vonn Trapp Family Resort, Topnotch and The StoweFlake all sure to satisfy. 


For the ice hockey fan in the family, hockey and free skating have been taken to a new level with the introduction of a new multi-million dollar ice arena ready to open in the fall of 2013.


If you're a fan of the arts, Stowe delivers with multiple craft shows, art shows and an amazing farmers market each weekend during the summer months. The Stowe Theater Guild and Hyde Park Opera House provide for hours of excellent thespian productions in the summer months as well.


The peak of Mount Mansfield is recorded as the highest in the state and at 4,393 enjoys breathtaking views. For the hiker in your group there are numerous trails on Mt Mansfield and among the caves of Smugglers Notch State Park. Rock climbers and ice climbers find this spot excellent additions to the sport.

Stowe Vt is home to several popular celebrities. The Von Trapps have called Stowe their home since the end of WWII, you may recall the musical family's story featured in "The Sound of Music".  Stowe is also home to William Kidd, the first American man to win the gold in Olympics for alpine skiing and Rusty Dewees the Author and Comedian.
