North Ferrisburgh is a village in the northern part of the town of Ferrisburgh, in Addison County, with its own ZIP code (05473). The town borders Charlotte to the north and Lake Champlain to the west, and US Route 7 runs through it toward Burlington to the north and Vergennes to the south. Kingsland Bay State Park and the Rokeby Museum, a National Historic Landmark on the Underground Railroad, are both in Ferrisburgh. Students attend Ferrisburgh Central School (K-6) and Vergennes Union High School. Current North Ferrisburgh listings appear at the bottom of this page, and our Ferrisburgh market report shows recent sales and prices.
North Ferrisburgh has deep roots. The Spade Farm Covered Bridge, built around 1850, originally stood on Old Hollow Road in North Ferrisburgh before a local farmer had it moved to his farm in 1958 rather than see it dismantled. The town itself was chartered in 1762 and hosted an art colony from 1917 to 1924 with faculty from Middlebury College and UVM.
Lake Champlain is close by. Kingsland Bay State Park, 264 acres on the lake, has a beach, boat rentals, picnic pavilions, and a 50-acre natural area on two lake peninsulas. It's also home to Hawley's Ferry House, a stone house built around 1790 and one of the few surviving 18th-century buildings on the Vermont side of the lake.
On Route 7, the Rokeby Museum preserves the 1780s farmstead of the Robinson family, Quaker abolitionists who sheltered freedom seekers on the Underground Railroad in the 1830s and 1840s; it's a National Historic Landmark. Burlington is a straightforward drive north on Route 7, and Vergennes and Middlebury are to the south.
Children in Ferrisburgh attend Ferrisburgh Central School for kindergarten through grade 6, and older students attend Vergennes Union High School.

For lakefront or lake-view homes, check the flood zone and shoreland rules. For older homes, plan for a thorough inspection, including lead paint for homes built before 1978. For farmland or land, confirm septic suitability and whether the parcel is enrolled in Current Use.
Vermont's property transfer tax, paid by the buyer at closing, is 0.5% on the first $200,000 of a primary residence and 1.47% above that; 3.62% for a second home suitable for year-round use; and a VHFA-financed primary residence is exempt on the first $250,000. Estimate your payment, transfer tax, and cash to close with our Vermont Home Cost Calculator, and see our Vermont home inspection guide.
