Mount Holly is a Rutland County town of about 1,390 people on Vermont Route 103, between Ludlow and Okemo Mountain Resort to the east and Rutland to the west. Its villages include Belmont, home to 63-acre Star Lake and its town beach, and Healdville, near the Crowley Cheese Factory, built in 1881 and one of the oldest cheesemakers in the country. Living in Mount Holly
In Belmont village, Star Lake is a 63-acre lake held by a dam first built in the 1790s, with a town recreation area and beach. The 92-acre Star Lake Wildlife Management Area, reached from Teer Road, has lake frontage, wetlands, and a hardwood ridge. Lake Ninevah is also in Mount Holly.
In Healdville, the Crowley Cheese Factory, built in 1881 and on the National Register since 1979, belongs to what's described as the oldest cheesemaker native to the United States, still using its original methods. Mount Holly's notable natives include Olympic snowboarder Hannah Teter and Horatio Earle, who built the world's first mile of concrete road.
Route 103 runs east to Ludlow, where Okemo Mountain Resort is, and west through Shrewsbury and Clarendon toward Rutland.

Mount Holly is part of the Ludlow Mount Holly Unified Union School District in the Two Rivers Supervisory Union. Mount Holly School serves pre-K through grade 6. The district's public high school, Black River, closed in 2020, and the district has recently been reviewing merger options, so confirm current middle and high school arrangements with the district for a specific home.
