About Victory
Victory was once a logging center, with 14 sawmills operating along the Moose River from the late 1800s into the mid-1900s, and its population peaked at 564 in 1890. Today it's a very small, remote town; it and neighboring Granby were the last two towns in the state to get electricity, in 1963.
Victory State Forest covers more than half the town. Within it, the 4,970-acre Victory Basin Wildlife Management Area protects a wetland and forest complex along the Moose River, including a boreal bog at its center, and it's open to hunting, trapping, fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The basin was nearly flooded by a proposed dam until the state acquired the land in 1969. Victory Road, a dirt road, runs through the WMA.
Schools
Victory doesn't operate a school. It's part of the NEK Choice School District, and the town pays tuition for children to attend any state-approved elementary or secondary school. Contact the Essex North Supervisory Union for current enrollment and tuition details.

- Legal access: a deeded right-of-way or town road access, and whether the road is maintained or passable year-round
- Boundaries: a current survey, especially next to state forest land
- Buildability: septic suitability, water supply, and state permits
- Power: whether utility power reaches the property or it would be off-grid
- Current Use: whether the land is enrolled in Vermont's Current Use program
