Bradford is an Orange County town on the Connecticut River in Vermont's Upper Valley, with a historic village center, US Route 5 and Interstate 91 running through town, and rural homes and land in the hills to the west. Current Bradford homes for sale appear at the bottom of this page, and our Bradford market report shows recent sales and prices.
Bradford's village sits where the Waits River meets the Connecticut River. The Bradford Village Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the 1893 Bradford Academy building now houses town offices and the historical society. Waits River Falls, a waterfall over a rocky cascade, is right in the village.
Oxbow High School and the Riverbend Career and Technical Center are both in Bradford, and serve students from Bradford, Newbury, and nearby towns.
Buyers in Bradford find a mix of village homes within walking distance of shops and schools, older farmhouses, and rural homes with land in the hills west of the river. See what's for sale now in the listings below, and check recent sale prices in the Bradford market report, which updates as homes sell.
Vermont's property transfer tax, paid by the buyer at closing, is 0.5% on the first $200,000 of a primary residence and 1.47% above that; 3.62% for a second home; and a VHFA-financed primary residence is exempt on the first $250,000. Estimate your payment, transfer tax, and cash to close with our Vermont Home Cost Calculator. Many rural homes have private wells and septic systems, so plan for water testing and a septic inspection; see our Vermont home inspection guide.
