Mount Snow is the center of gravity. The mountain has 86 trails, 18 lifts, and a 1,700-foot vertical drop from a summit of about 3,600 feet, plus Carinthia, its terrain-park area.
Wilmington, just south on Route 100, has more shops, restaurants, and services, and Brattleboro and Bennington are each reached by Route 9.
Short-Term Rentals in Dover
If you plan to rent a Dover property short term, know the town's rules before you buy. Dover requires registration for any furnished dwelling rented for less than 30 days at a time and more than 14 nights a year. Registration costs $125 per property per year and includes a fire and safety self-certification, bear-proof trash storage, and a local contact who can respond within one hour. Properties that sleep 9 or more need a Vermont Division of Fire Safety inspection. Condo and homeowners associations may have their own rental rules too, so read the documents.
Schools
Dover School, in East Dover, serves PreK through grade 6; in 2018 it became Vermont's first public school authorized as an International Baccalaureate World School for the Primary Years Program. After grade 6, Dover families choose among area middle and high schools under school choice, with Twin Valley among the options.

- Vermont Route 100 runs through West Dover past Mount Snow, south to Wilmington and north toward Wardsboro.
- Vermont Route 9, reached in Wilmington, runs east to Brattleboro and I-91 and west to Bennington.
