Lakes are Hubbardton's draw. Lake Hortonia, about 480 acres, lies in Hubbardton and Sudbury and reaches about 80 feet deep. Lake Bomoseen, about 2,400 acres, stretches north from Castleton into Hubbardton, and Beebe Pond is another of the town's larger waters.
On July 7, 1777, during the Saratoga Campaign, British forces attacked American troops here in the Battle of Hubbardton. The battlefield has been owned and operated by the State of Vermont as a historic site since 1937, with a permanent exhibit telling the story of the battle, and it's on the National Register of Historic Places.
Castleton is to the south and Brandon is to the east.

Hubbardton is part of the Slate Valley Unified Union School District. Fair Haven Union Middle and High School serves students from Orwell, Castleton, Benson, Hubbardton, West Haven, and Fair Haven. Check with the district for the elementary school assigned to a specific home.
